Does your pet get mail from AARP?
May is Senior Pet Month at the Animal Hospital of Oshkosh! When is your pet considered a "senior"?
Our veterinarians suggest: When cats and small dogs reach 10 years of age. When large dogs reach 7 years of age. When giant breeds reach 5 years of age. Thanks to advances in veterinary medicine, pets enjoy longer and healthier lives. But with age, pets experience some of the same diseases as humans - arthritis, diabetes, failing eye sight, and other ailments. As pets become "seniors", we recommend a comprehensive physical examination. As in humans, early detection and treatment of diseases can help us extend your pet's lifespan and quality of life. One of the ways to detect problems early is to have us run a Geriatric Blood Panel and Urinalysis. This helps us detect problems early!
