Agility Training

The Animal Hospital of Oshkosh, in conjunction with Judith Michels of Companions For Life, is offering Beginner Agility for Fun and Exercise.

All classes are held outside at the Animal Hospital of Oshkosh, in our beautiful, fenced exercise park.

We offer small classes to assure you and your dog individual attention by experienced instructors. The class size is limited to 6-8 dogs per class.

Our classes focus on positive reinforcement, while building a better understanding and relationship with your dog. These classes offer a wonderful opportunity to give your dog the needed exercise and mental stimulation they crave!

What Is Dog Agility?

Dog Agility is a dog sport in which a handler directs a dog through an obstacle course in a race for both time and accuracy. The agility course consists of a set of standard obstacles. The owner directs their dog to jump hurdles, scale ramps, burst through tunnels, traverse a see-saw and weave through a line of poles designed to challenge both the dog and its handler!

The obstacles that are used in agility are colorful, safe, fun and challenging! There are many to choose from and it can be overwhelming at first, however, it isn’t all that complicated as you will see. And the dogs love it!!

You will see all shapes and sizes of dogs (and people!) doing agility…this is one of the wonderful things about the sport! You may think to yourself, “my dog can never do this, he’s too small”, but in agility classes, your tiny little guy will have lower jumps, lower tables, etc. Even a bulldog can do these obstacles, providing you find the special treat or toy that really motivates him! Most dogs are so highly motivated to please their owner that praise alone is reason enough!

Come join the fun and learn how to have a better behaved companion.

Beginner Agility for Fun and Exercise

This is an introductory course for dogs to learn the basics of agility as they also learn basic obedience in a fun, stimulating setting. The dogs will learn how to negotiate low jumps, tunnels, weave poles and more to help build confidence and training skills. All classes are held in a safe fenced-in exercise area.

This class will reinforce basic obedience commands such as sit, stay, heel, and lie down in a fun, exciting ways so it doesn’t even seem like work! Dogs are so anxious to please us — this is a wonderful opportunity for your dog to show that pleasing drive while giving them the exercise and mental stimulation they need!
